Friends,
Thank you for considering as to how SWMCF could be of help to our ministry in Southeast Asia. I am requesting assistance in the upgrading of my mobile ultrasound unit. My current ultrasound unit is almost 5 years old, and the quality of images isn’t ideal. It also malfunctions frequently.
I use point of care ultrasound every day in my clinical visits here in SE Asia. It is especially useful for FAST exams in trauma cases to rule out intra-abdominal bleeding and pericardial effusion, abdominal diagnostics (RUQ for liver and gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, bladder, aorta), obstetrics, lungs and heart pathology. Also I find it very useful in categorizing skin lesions (cysts vs lipomas, etc). Especially working in a resource limited setting, ultrasound has proved to be an invaluable tool here for diagnostic purposes. I also volunteer as part time faculty at our local medical school and the dean there has asked me to start teaching formal POCUS classes to the second-year medical students here as well.
I am looking to upgrade my ultrasound probe to the Butterfly iQ3 probe – the standard of care right now in POCUS (point of care ultrasound) and the cost is $3,899. I would also need to buy a lifetime-of-the probe membership (advanced technology plan) to access their programs priced at an additional $800.
Southwestern Medical Clinic Foundation is offering a Matching Gift campaign of up to $2,000 for the ultrasound equipment and the needed advanced technology plan.
Thank you for your consideration of support and God bless.
