Chris Harvey, MD
SWMCF Board President
Chris came to work as a Pediatrician for Southwestern Medical Clinic in Niles in 2005. He has continued to practice in Niles through several integrations and is now part of Corewell Health. He also serves as a Medical Director for Corewell. He is married to Jana and they have four daughters. Chris and his family have served on short-term mission trips to Papua New Guinea, Kenya, and Cameroon. In his free time, he enjoys attending his daughters' soccer games.
Jeff Templeton
SWMCF Board Vice President
After retiring from Whirlpool Corporation as a financial executive, Jeff served for twelve years as Missions Director at his home church, The Chapel. He has served in leadership positions on the boards for a variety of nonprofits and ministries in addition to SWMCF, including a hospital, a Christian school, the local YMCA, The Chapel and others. He also taught for many years as an adjunct professor at Siena Heights University and at Hope College. Jeff and his wife, Sue, enjoy being involved in the lives of their five grandchildren.
Warren White, Jr.
SWMCF Board Secretary/Treasurer
Warren is a founding board member of the SWMCF, served as the administrator of
Southwestern Medical Clinic for 17 years and Corewell Health’s Vice President of
Physician Practices for 10 years. He currently is the Chair of Christian Medical Dental
Association’s (CMDA) Christian Healthcare Executive Collaborative (CHEC). Since
retirement in 2020, he continues to consult and teach healthcare leadership
internationally. He enjoys traveling with his wife, Marcy, spending time with his 6
grandkids, and pursuing outdoor activities.
Shannon Brown
SWMCF Trustee
Shannon is a Physician Assistant working for Corewell Health in informatics as well as primary care since 2001. She and her husband have a long history of short-term mission trips to Africa, Haiti, Dominican Republic and state-side where Shannon does medical work while Luke exercises his financial and construction expertise. This experience helps her to serve on our mission-oriented board. She also enjoys volunteering in multiple roles at her church and community as well as raising their two children.
Olivia Cochran
SWMCF Board Director
Olivia has been practicing as a family nurse practitioner with Corewell Health since 2017. She is married with one son and expecting a daughter soon. Prior to getting married, she has gone on multiple short term missions trips to Jamaica, Gabon, Kenya, Lebanon, and within the US. She and her family hope to one day go on trips together. She and her husband will be opening a local coffee shop this year. She enjoys being outdoors, running, swimming, playing violin, visiting family in PA, and being involved in her son’s life.

Dr. Daniel Metzger
SWMCF Trustee
Dr. Metzger is a Family Medicine provider at the Southwestern Medical Clinic in Niles. He and his wife enjoy travel and live in Niles, MI.
Garrett Muhlstadt
SWMCF Trustee
Garrett came to work in Family Medicine for Southwestern Medical Clinic in Niles in 2023. Prior to this, he served among an underserved population in urban South Bend, Indiana. He is passionate about meeting the marginalized where they are, and recognizing and respecting their dignity as humans created in the image of God. Currently, this is most evident in his practice of addictions medicine. In the past, he has found opportunities through short term trips to Papua New Guinea and urban Indianapolis. He is married to Abbie and they have 2 sons, Micah and Malachi. Garrett and Abbie enjoy spending time with family through hiking, going to the beach, playing games together, and going on any other adventure the day may throw at them.
Dean Napp
SWMCF Development Officer
Dean joined SWMCF in 2016 as the Development Officer after retiring from his 30 year career with Whirlpool as a marketing executive and several marketing business consultancies. He has served in various leadership positions for a number of ministries including his church, Christian non-profit thrift store, Five Pines Ministries, and a Christian school. Dean and his wife Debra enjoy time with their three grandchildren and outdoor activities.
Dr. Meghan Murphy Steen
SWMCF Trustee
Meghan (Meg) came to work at Southwestern Medical Women’s Clinic in Niles as an OB/GYN in 2012. She and her Family Practice husband Jonathan Steen joined the practice because they were excited to work for a practice that wholeheartedly supports missions. She and her family are now long-term missionaries at Tenwek Mission Hospital in Kenya. They teach in training programs to promote Christian medical care across Kenya and all of Africa. They enjoy working for their Corewell practices when they return on furlough to give back to the community that supports them. They have four kids who love running around the Tenwek compound and they have enjoyed exploring Kenya including camping at the Maasai Mara amongst the safari animals!
