Folks often wonder how their donation to the SWMCF General Fund is used. The General Fund focuses on three areas of support: Christian Medical Mission Hospital Project Support, Scholarship Support for Short-Term Christian Medical trips, and partnering with other Christian Medical Mission Organizations to meet world-wide needs.

Christian Medical Mission Hospital Project Support: We partner with physicians and hospitals to create matching gift campaigns to meet the requested need. This program has grown rapidly over the last five years. Because the SWMCF Match is generated from the donations given to the General Fund, your gift is often multiplied as it is used to match the donations given by others who are supporting the project. As an example, see last year’s “Tenwek Hospital Unsung Heroes Project” managed by Dr Meghan Murphy Steen.

Short-Term Medical Christian Medical Scholarship Program: Hundreds of medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers have been awarded scholarships in support of their short-term medical mission trips. This program has been so rewarding as the recipients are planning their futures and considering long term Christian Medical placement. Christian Medical Mission Ministries: Finally, we partner with other Christian Medical Organizations to meet emergency needs, project needs and training needs throughout the world. Examples include Christian Medical Dental Association (CMDA), Vision Outreach International, Crosspoint Global Health Fund, and TMS Global (The Mission Society).
